March 2026 Newsletter

March was a month full of discovery, creativity, and celebration at Sandbox Station Daycare! Our little learners explored exciting themes, enjoyed hands-on activities, and built strong friendships along the way.

🐞 Theme 1: BUGS, BUGS, BUGS!

Our curious explorers dove into the fascinating world of insects. We learned about caterpillars, butterflies, and all the tiny creatures that crawl and fly around us.

📚 Books We Read:

  • The Very Hungry Caterpillar
  • Bugs, Bugs, Bugs
  • In the Tall, Tall Grass

Through stories and discussions, children learned about life cycles, habitats, and the importance of bugs in nature.

🖌 Activities:

  • Fun Painting (creating colorful butterflies and bugs!)
  • Play Dough Fun (making caterpillars and ladybugs)
  • Kinetic Sand bug hunts
  • Sorting toy insects by size and color
  • Building bug homes with blocks
  • Lacing activities to strengthen fine motor skills

🍀 Theme 2: ST. PATRICK’S DAY

We celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with lots of green and plenty of sparkle!

📚 Books We Read:

  • Green Shamrock
  • Lucky Trucker
  • Rainbow of My Own

Children explored rainbows, shamrocks, and talked about “luck” and friendship.

🎨 Activities:

  • Mixing Colours to create beautiful rainbows
  • Shamrock Collage (cutting and pasting)
  • Green-themed sensory play
  • Draw and Tell: “What would you wish for at the end of a rainbow?”

🌟 Theme 3: ALL ABOUT ME

This special theme helped children celebrate who they are and what makes them unique!

📚 Books We Read:

  • Kindness Makes Me Stronger
  • What I Like About Me
  • All About Me: A Sensory Story

We talked about kindness, feelings, family, and the wonderful qualities that make each child special.

💛 Activities:

  • Self-portrait painting
  • “About Me” collages
  • Sharing circle (Draw and Tell)
  • Building with friends to practice teamwork
  • Sensory exploration activities

This theme helped build confidence, communication skills, and friendships.

  • Please call Sandbox Station if your child is sick or absent for the day.
  • Parents, please update your subsidy for the fee increase if you are eligible.
  • OOSC parents: Please update your subsidy if your child will be attending daycare during Spring Break.
