Welcome to February! This month is filled with love, togetherness, and exciting cultural celebrations. Our little learners will be exploring kindness, family connections, and creativity through hands-on activities, stories, and play-based learning. We can’t wait to share all the fun with your children!

💝 Valentine’s Day

We’ll be talking about love, friendship, kindness, and caring for others. Children will practice sharing, expressing emotions, and celebrating friendships in age-appropriate ways.

👨‍👩‍👧 Family Day

Family is at the heart of everything we do. Children will explore what makes their family special and learn that families come in many wonderful forms.

🧧 Chinese New Year

We’ll introduce children to Chinese New Year traditions, colours, and celebrations, encouraging curiosity and appreciation for different cultures.

These stories help promote kindness, love, imagination, and social-emotional learning.

Our classrooms will be buzzing with creativity and exploration, including:

• Please notify the daycare if your child will be absent:
  • OOSC: by 7:15 AM
  • Daycare: by 9:00 AM
• Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for daycare and outdoor play.

Embracing Winter & Snow at Sandbox Childcare ⛄

Winter is here, and at Sandbox Childcare, we are excited to explore all the magic the season brings! This month, our classrooms are focusing on the themes of Winter and Snow, creating cozy, imaginative, and hands-on learning experiences for our children.

Through stories, creative activities, and seasonal play, children will learn about winter weather, snow, and how the world changes during the colder months—all while having lots of fun!

📚 Featured Winter Stories

Storytime is a big part of our learning, and this month we will enjoy these winter favorites:

• The Biggest Snowman Ever – A heartwarming story about teamwork, friendship, and creativity
• First Day of Winter – Helping children understand seasonal changes
• The Mitten and the Red Sled – Fun winter tales that spark imagination and discussion

These stories support early literacy skills while encouraging listening, comprehension, and group interaction.

November has rolled in, bringing with it crunchy leaves, cozy sweaters, and the perfect mix of learning and laughter! At Sandbox Station Daycare, our classrooms are buzzing with creativity as we explore this month’s theme, Transportation! From painting with wheels to counting cars, our little learners are in for an exciting, hands-on month of discovery.

🚗 Theme of the Month: Transportation!

Our young adventurers are diving into the world of things that go! Through art, play, and storytelling, we’ll explore how different vehicles move, what they do, and where they take us. 🚜

Here’s a peek at this month’s fun-filled activities:

• 🧁 Making Playdough – Squish, roll, and mould your way into creative fun!
• ☁️ Shaving Cream Art – A sensory explosion of colour and giggles.
• 🚙 Transportation with Shapes – Building buses and trains using circles, triangles, and squares.
• 🎨 Colour Mixing Art – Watch little scientists discover what happens when red meets blue!
• 🧵 Lacing Beads – Strengthening those tiny hands and big imaginations.
• 🔢 Sequencing Math – Sorting, counting, and learning through play.

Each activity connects back to our theme while helping children develop essential skills — all while having tons of fun!

📅 Important Dates & Announcements

• ❤️ Tuesday, November 11, 2025 – Remembrance Day: Daycare will be closed as we take time to honour and remember those who served with courage and love.
• 🧑‍🏫 Monday, November 10, 2025 – Pro-D Day for OOSC: Out-of-School Care will be closed for Professional Development.

📢 Parent Reminders

As the air turns crisp and the leaves fall, here are a few gentle reminders to help make this season smooth and joyful for everyone:

• ✅ Monthly Fee Deadline: Fees are due by Friday, October 31, 2025.
• ✅ Subsidy Renewals: Please make sure your subsidy is up to date.
• ✅ Drop-off Cut-off Time: 9:00 AM — arrivals after this time can’t be accommodated (thank you for being on time!).
• ✅ Extra Essentials: Pack extra weather-appropriate clothes and indoor shoes for those cozy playtimes.
• ✅ Withdrawal Notice: One month’s notice is required if your child will be leaving the program.
• ✅ December Holiday Schedule:
  • 🎄 December 24, 2025 – Open 7:00 AM to 12:00 Noon
  • 🎅 December 25 & 26, 2025 – Daycare Closed
  • 🌟 December 29 & 30, 2025 – Open 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
